European polymers fall, Asian and US rise. WTI and Brent Crude static

European polymer prices fell over the week to 18th September. There were reductions of 10 and 20 EUR per tonne reported in the prices of ABS and Polystyrene. In the UK, prices fell across most grades as the Pound gained value against the Euro.

Asian polymers rose with increases of between 20 and 80 USD per tonne reported in the prices of HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PET, Polypropylene, PVC, ABS and Polystyrene. In China, the price of PVC was unchanged.

U.S. polymers also rose with increases of 2 and 3 Cents per pound reported in the prices of PET and ABS.

West Texas Intermediate and Brent Crude remained relatively unchanged at $100.30 and $103.87 per barrel respectively.

Global oil prices stabilised as supply concerns were eased by Saudi Arabia shipping more crude via Oman and a less than expected reduction in U.S. crude stocks.

Prices had climbed to near four-month highs earlier in the week after Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen traded cross-border strikes.

U.S. stocks fell by 640,000 barrels last week, data from the Energy Information Administration showed, compared to expectations of a 1.62 million barrel reduction.

Ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe have disrupted output at several major Russian refineries and prompted Moscow to extend restrictions on diesel exports until the end of October.
